PG&E residential rates rose 169% between 2008 and 2025, a compound 5.8% a year, accelerating to 8.6% a year since 2020 (PG&E tariff schedules E-1, E-TOU-C, E-TOU-D). PG&E has also cut rates modestly five times since early 2024, so we've plotted the slower 5.8% path alongside the recent trend. Past increases do not guarantee future ones. Independent reference: CPUC Public Advocates Office puts PG&E's average residential rate at 33.7¢/kWh as of June 2026, up 69% in ten years against 42% inflation.
